Came in darkness

Here is the Word of the every other day or so. We begin Chapter 3, at this pace we should finish some time next year. I pray that through these studies that if necessary we are not taught but humbled, and that God uses this for His glory.

Jhn 3:1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
Jhn 3:2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
Jhn 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

- Why is Nicodemus referred to in such a manner?
- Why did he come by night?
- What does born again mean to you?

Nicodemus was a ruler of the Jews, which most likely made him a member of Israel’s highest religious court and he was very well studied. He knew the laws, teaching and prophecies of the Old Testament but was still ignorant to whom he spoke. He possibly traveled by night to hide his ignorance, or fear of restitution from others, or simply this is an analogy of the perpetual state that man exist (in darkness). What struck me was not when but who he was seeking. The problem I saw was that he came in darkness seeking a teacher. A deaf and blind sinner must first humble himself to Christ the Savior. For what good is it to teach someone who is dead. A man must be born again before he may be taught.
