My wife Lydia will be proud of me on this one. I do believe it is my shortest one to date. And even with that in it I quote two scriptures. I pray that only the length is smaller and that with any enlightenment of the Spirit that the context will be overwhelming.
Jhn 3:22 After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
Jhn 3:23 And John also was baptizing in Aenon near to Salim, because there was much water there: and they came, and were baptized.
Jhn 3:24 For John was not yet cast into prison.
- What does much water teach us?
- Why was John baptized?
- Who was doing the baptizing?
I feel theses verses must be read in the light of John 4:2 "Though Jesus Himself baptized not, but His disciples". By linking these two verses together an important principle is established. What is done by the servants of the Lord, by His authority, is as though it had been done by Christ Himself. "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God" (2Cor 5:20).
