Here is our next word of the day. Only one verse this time, at this pace now we may expect to finish John in 2013. Something to look forward to.
I pray that the Lord will give us ears to hear and we lift Him up and listen to where He bloweth.
Jhn 3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
- What other comparisons can we make between the Spirit and the wind?
- Compare the similarities and contrast in verses 5, 7, & 8. "born of water", "born again", & "born of Spirit".
The wind is invisible. You can’t see the wind itself but you can certainly feel its effect. One cannot see the Spirit of God but His power and effects of His work are certainly evident. The wind is sovereign. We cannot control the wind nor do we give it permission to blow. The wind does not wait for us to except its existence or come at our command. The wind blows when it pleases, where it pleases, and as it pleases. So it is with the Spirit (Exd 33:19, John 5:21). The wind is irresistible. When the wind blows it sweeps over everything before it, and no one chooses not to submit to its power. When the Spirit of God comes and calls His sheep He breaks down mans prejudges, subdues his will, and draws him near (Psm 110:3). Let us be humbled and thankful the wind bloweth and that we are at the mercy of our Father for Him to will and to do of His good pleasure.
