"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

Why was this man blind?

We journey back to our texts today. Today’s is a somber lessons for all of us especially me at times. So many times I may be able to look back and be thankful for what He has done for me in the past, and I can live in faith and look forward with confidence that He will keep me, it is so many time the NOW that I have problems with. May God forgive me for my ignorance and sinfulness. I pray that He is with all of us daily in the now. May He be our guide and teacher.

The extra credit reading like usually is much better than anything I can write. To hopefully insure you read it I only have 1 extra today. Keeping right on subject Charles Spurgeon wrote this on Glory in Damnation!. Highly recommended reading.

Jhn 9:2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jhn 9:3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

- What picture can we see in the blind man?
- Why did they question who sinned?

Why was this man blind? After this man was healed why were others left blind? Why do some of His people suffer afflictions? That He may be glorified. God has His own and just reasons for trails, sickness, and disease. I heard it once from someone and I just love this statement; “if I was Omnipotent”, had the power to change anything, “ I would change everything, if I was Omniscient”, was all knowing, “I wouldn’t change a thing”. If I could cure cancer, feed all hunger, or even more simple eliminate all temptations and trails in my life I would hesitate, but if I knew the results or the end I would instead fall to my knees and praise Him for these tribulations. Knowing God’s plan I would realize that everything is exactly the way it is suppose to be. What comfort to the believer. The knowledge no matter what we may go through that God has a wise (and many time hidden) purpose that is served. Joy in your tribulations and trails that in this glorious plan God will be glorified. Looking at the blind man before us it was 34 years before we see why this man was born in this condition. But ultimately God was glorified in the miracle of his sight. We may never know God’s plan but rest in His Sovereign pleasure.

I Sam 3:18 “And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.”
