Yes this actually is coming out on time and we may see two this week, which places us back on schedule to finish the Gospel of John before the next decade. Final selection on an in-depth look at this single verse. Today touches the last few words and came from a February church bulletin by pastor Todd Nibert. I pray as we feebly attempt to pierce His words that He pierces our hearts and presses in them by His Way, His Truth, and Life through His Son.
Extra Credit: It is humbling for it to be placed in your heart the truth of the darkness and inability of your will and the sovereignty and power of His will. Today with the words of Horatius Bonar (1808-1889) a Scottish minister and hymn writer we look and pray that we are humbled in a comparison of Gods will and mans will
Jhn 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me
- Who is given hope in this verse?
No man cometh to the Father but by me. By these words the Lord teaches us that there is only one way to approach God. We come only in Christ name! When we come in Christ name, we are asking the Father to receive us for Christ sake. We are asking for the father to receive us as if it were Christ Himself coming, and not us. We plead only His name!
But it means more than that. The Lord did not say, No man cometh to the Father but (through) me, although that would be a true statement. He said, No man cometh to the Father but (by) me. It is only as Christ Himself brings me to the Father that I can come to the Father. It is not so much me coming with Him, but Him coming with me. It is only as he comes into the Fathers presence, and brings those He represents with Him, that they can come into the Fathers presence. How true are the words of our Lord that no man cometh to the Father buy by Him! By Todd Nibert (I Tim 2:6)
