Jhn 1:5 (5) And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Why can we not see or understand the Light?
A young baby is born blind unable to distinguish or comprehend its surrounds. So it is for every natural man. We are born blind to Spiritual things unable to comprehend holiness. We see only the effects of the fall of man and as far as our flesh can see. But dear reader the Light has never dimmed only our ability to see it. His light still shines with all its majesty but we discard it and fall deeper into darkness by means of our own will. What a fearful and solemn indictment for the hopeless state in which we are born and live. Not only being blind to all light but loving the darkness rather than the light. Where light usually penetrates the dark we exist in a willing state where it seems light seems to fade to uncomprehendable levels. Oh reader what mercy and grace this displays as well. For in this state it is nothing short of the grace of God that can reveal this to us and lead us to a beacon of light and hope.
