The Lamb - Jhn 1: 29-30

Jhn 1:29-30 (29) The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (30) This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.

What is the significance in Christ’s identity as the Lamb of God?

(Gen 4) The Lamb introduced and typified. It was here that a lamb was slain and used as a sacrifice by Abel
(Gen 22:8)The Lamb prophesied. Here Abraham says to Isaac that God will provide himself a lamb
(Ex 12) The power of the Lamb. The blood is placed of the posts of there doors and the power of the blood is reveled in giving life
(Isa 53:7)The Lamb personalized. Here is the first mention of the lamb will take on a form of man
(John 1:29)The lamb identified. Here and primarily in the Gospel of John the lamb is reveled
(Rev 5) The lamb magnified. Here the lamb is exalted by a host which is in heaven
(Rev 22)The lamb glorified. Here in the last chapter in the Bible we have the Lamb seated upon the eternal throne of God

The overriding message in this book is Jesus is the Son of God. Variations of this statement are made by 7 different persons in this book. John’s message hear is that Jesus the savior is here to redeem His people. Our message needs to be that Jesus the savior accomplished that and is now exalted and rains supreme upon the throne of God.
