"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

What is in man

I pray we look to Him alone and He covers our ignorance with the enlightenment of His words

Jhn 2:23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
Jhn 2:24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
Jhn 2:25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

- What attribute of His deity do these verse show?
- Why did they believe?
- Why did Jesus not trust their belief?

The problem with most modern religions is that it doesn't’t destroy mans hope in himself. (Pro 15:33) "The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honor is humility." They professed Him but they knew Him not. Their professions were not from the heart, but of themselves, and He knew it (I Kings 8:39). Their testimony would only promote the visible works and would take away from the glory of the giver. A true testimony is of God, by God, and Through His son. Looking at or towards anything else is looking away from God and is false hope. I believe that men can be stirred into repentance. Men can be intellectually brought to believe the gospel. Men can emotionally be motivated into faith or work their way to feeling good. But all these seeds are falling on stony ground. Only God can make a new creation and only by Him and Through Him can we become justified. It is a gift of God (Eph 2:8).
