"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

The Soul is Satisfied

Guten Morgen all or more appropriate "GußGot" (wake to greet God). If any have anything to add I look forward to hearing from you. I pray God blesses these words and strips away any foolishness and presses in our heart that which is truth.

Jhn 4:11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
Jhn 4:12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
Jhn 4:13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
Jhn 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

- What is Christ referring to when he says water?
- Is there any spiritual truth in vs 11 when the woman says the well is deep?
- What eternal security does vs 15 represent to the believer?

Like so many times someone else can say things much more eloquent than I.
"Here we labor, but receive no benefit; we sow many times, and rep not; we rep, and we do not gather in; or gather in, and do not possess; or possess and do not enjoy; or we enjoy, but we are still unsatisfied. A great heap of riches makes neither our clothes more warm, our meat more nutritious, nor our beverage more palatable. It feeds the eye but never can fill it. But the grace of God fills the furrows of the heart; and, as the capacity increases, it grows itself in equal degrees, and never suffers any emptiness or dissatisfaction. The soul is satisfied all the way, and receives more, not because it wanted any, but that it can now hold more, being become more receptive. These were the waters, which were given us to drink, when, with the Rod of God, The Rock, Christ Jesus was smitten. The Spirit of God moves forever upon these waters; and, when the angel of the covenant had stirred the pool, whosoever descends hither shall find peace and rest, joys spiritual, and the satisfaction of eternity." Jeremy Taylor (1613-1667) Anglican Bishop and writer of the Puritans.
