Fifth of Seven. I pray he continues to bless our words.
Jhn 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
Jhn 5:23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
- On what basis does the Son judge men and who will be guilty?
- Scriptural reference ( Act 17:31, Col 1:14-18)
One of, if not the prominent underlying purpose of this gospel is to declare that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that in believing ye might know you have eternal life through His name and deed (John 20:31). There is a strong reoccurring theme throughout the Book of John of the Devine deity of Christ. This and following are some of the more prominent examples. We will examine a seven-fold proof of the deity of Christ as we study verse 17 through 29. We will look as the Lord sets before the Jews and for all that read here an absolute equality and oneness with His Father and I have a personal hope that we may believe and have eternal life.
Fifth in divine honor and worship the Son is one with the Father. You might expect the Father to be judge, for it is He who has been sinned against; it is He who gave His Son in which the world rejected. But the Father has committed all judgment to the Son. And why this may have been committed to the Son we can find in the very next verse, that the Son may be honored. That not one would receive more honor than the other. That likewise dishonoring one would dishonor both.
