Grace and peace, I have been discovering that even in the light trails can arise. Currently suffering from a pretty bad sun burn. So in some way I have learned the treasures of darkness and Solarcaine. That aside I pray God uses the foolishness of my words to glorify His name and strips away any ignorance in our speech and shines his light to the upright.
Jhn 6:15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
Jhn 6:16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
Jhn 6:17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
Jhn 6:18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
Jhn 6:19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
Jhn 6:20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
Jhn 6:21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.
- Why did the disciples leave without Jesus?
- Why didn’t John record the account of Peter walking on water as well?
"And now it was dark and Jesus was not come to them." Can we ever comprehend why Christ withholds the light and purpose from His own? Why sometimes He allows His own to be tossed about in the sea of despair. Job said, "When I wanted light, then came darkness" (Job 30:26). I pray for forgiveness as we feebly attempt to examine these follow explanations. First God may use these trails to test and strengthen our faith. What a wonderful gift He gives to grant us more patience to wait on Him and strengthen our resolve. Similarly God uses many things today. It is unfortunate though that it only seems in times when the winds blow and we are alone in the dark that we cry out in fear. But how humbly we are reminded that His hands are at work in His time (Isa 30:18). Second so that He might be glorified. The Lord may wait until there is utter darkness so that His light may be that much brighter. He may allow things to become overwhelming to us so that we may truly appreciate His delivering grace and power. It is once again alone in the darkness with the wind blowing around us that we pick up our own oars and cry for Him to be our savior (Psm 107:27-28). Last because He is God, who wills and does what He chooses to do for good reason. We many times never understand why or for what purpose, best rest assured He does. I feel half ashamed for even offering some other reasoning, for God alone is in control of our destiny for His purpose. And If He never reveals that will to someone as low as us, that is just and good. But let us never forget that He is in control, and that the darkness is not caused by Satan but by God and that it pleases Him to sometimes withhold the light from His people that they may discover "the treasures of darkness" (Isa 45:3). May we through Gods gifts of trails grow in faith and assurance and have peace in that "unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness" (Psa 112:4). He will come and say it is I be not afraid.
