"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

God's Restraining Grace

Just 1 again this week. I pray God blesses these words and each of us take out exactly what it please Him to reveal.

Jhn 7:30 Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come.
Jhn 7:31 And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done?
Jhn 7:32 The Pharisees heard that the people murmured such things concerning him; and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take him.
Jhn 7:33 Then said Jesus unto them, Yet a little while am I with you, and then I go unto him that sent me.
Jhn 7:34 Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come.
Jhn 7:35 Then said the Jews among themselves, Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersed among the Gentiles, and teach the Gentiles?
Jhn 7:36 What manner of saying is this that he said, Ye shall seek me, and shall not find me: and where I am, thither ye cannot come?

- How do these verses demonstrate the deity of Christ?
- How much longer would Jesus be with them?

How these verses solemnly demonstrate, bring us back and focus us to the deity and sovereignty of God. For He is in control of His hour. For He ordained before this time His final fate and so it shall and must occur. And until that time, no man can lay a hand on Him until He allowed it. We see in His words, His ability to go where no man is able. He does not say that where I go you may not come but (“ou” Gr.) cannot come. We see a sovereign God where all providence is in His hand. This should be of great comfort to the believer. How blessed it is to believe that everything is in the immediate control of God. Not a hair on our heads can be touched without His permission. The demon possessed Saul may have hurled his javelin at David, but hurling it and killing him were two different things. Terrorist may war against us, sickness may infect our communities, but until He suffers me to be effected I am safe and immune. The devil may want to work on our flesh and cause you to stumble, but he must seek permission from your protector first. Oh, let us be thankful for His watchful eye, for His protecting hand, and His restraining grace.

Psa 91:6-7 “Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; [but] it shall not come nigh thee.”
