Will it has been over a week. For some you may be excited to read the next few verses, some may have wondered where last weeks was, while others did not even notice you have not received anything in over a week. For the first group here is the next verses, for the next group I took the week off, for the last it doesn't surprise me. It seems easier to get away from reading and studying His Word than it does to get back into it. With that I pray God convicts us to get back into His Word. That we may fervently seek the truth and that we may do the works of our Father.
Jhn 8:37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
Jhn 8:38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
Jhn 8:39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
Jhn 8:40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.

Unfortunately as it may be, there are many so-called Christians who are exactly like these Jews. When they said Abraham is our father it was but the self-righteousness of the natural man exhibiting itself. They were only in their mind contrasting themselves to the heathen. “The heathen is in bondage and is of a different belief. We belong to the Jewish belief and are given the covenant. We are Jews, we are God’s children, we are in the covenant, we must be right”. This was their whole argument. It is not difficult to see the similarities today. Preach the gospel to men today. Expound on the ruined and lost condition of the natural man. Take away man’s hope in himself place him utterly dependent on Christ and the result will be the same as the Jews. They will reject what you say and who they are and claim knowledge and privilege. “We are not that bad, we are above the heathen, we are Baptist, Methodist, Lutheran, Church of Christ, Church of Nazarene, and so on.” They go to church or have been baptized. They partake of the Lord’s Table but many can tell you know more of their redemption or salvation. “We are Christians, we are God’s children, we are the true church, we must be right.” This is their whole argument. They are ignorant of true faith, blind to grace, absent of holiness, they know nothing of righteousness. For if they were one of His children elected unto salvation you would do the work of the Spirit.
(Rom 2:29) “But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.”
