Last time I wrote here instead of coping others we lost 2 subscribers. I thought about it and decided it wasn’t what I wrote but because who wrote it. Despite that I am writing today’s again. Last week all viewpoints were on the state, condition, and reason of the lost and non-elect. This week is the hope and joy of all that believe. I pray God blesses the ignorance of my words and gives hope to all grace filled hearts that they may rest in His promise.
Extra credit: Keeping with today’s inspirational theme I posted this yesterday on my other site by Joseph Philpot. Remembering that as trials and adversity present itself that The end will make amends for it all
Jhn 10:26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
Jhn 10:27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
Jhn 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Jhn 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
- What comfort is there in this text for His elect?
As bold, damning, and sorrowful verse 26 is to those outside of the grace of God these verses before us cause every believer to cry out and rejoice in an everlasting hope and joy. This is bold, merciful and joyous. There are most likely numerous blessed declarations or promises embodied in this text, (A.W. Pink sites 7 different in his commentary). I will humbly try to touch on only three.
- “I know them…” Even though to the world around them they may be completely unknown, uncared for, or even despised. But to Christ they are never forgotten or overlooked. He knows every hair on their heads and will guide and protect His sheep.
- “They shall never perish…” Though they (I) often think they shall, by the hand of the world or their own lust, will fall. Though they think they may perish by the evil that rots their hearts, Christ says No; I have begot you and paid the full price for all of your sins.
- “Neither shall any pluck them out of my hand…” What better promise than this. There is not a more precious or blessed text to support the fact of hope in the perseverance of the saints.
“For the seed shall be prosperous; the vine shall give her fruit, and the ground shall give her increase, and the heavens shall give their dew; and I will cause the remnant of this people to possess all these things.” (Zech 8:12)
