"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

Told Plainly

We began our first study (John 1:1) surmising that there possibly is no greater place in the Bible where the Deity of Christ is so fully expressed than in the gospel of John. This gospel clearly declares “ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have eternal life” (John 20:31). Let us continue to focus on His message and pronouncing the Son of Man in deity and power. I pray that God may filter out my ignorance and press in our hearts that which is truth.

Extra credit: Today’s is from George Whitefield another favorite of mine. As we attend churches or even read these, this is solemn words to be reminded How to listen to a sermon

Jhn 10:22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.
Jhn 10:23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.
Jhn 10:24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.
Jhn 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

- What was the Feast of Dedication?

He had told them that He was the Son of man (John 5:27). He had revealed Himself to the Samaritan women and the blind beggar (John 4:26, 9:37). He told people that He was the one whom Moses wrote (John 5:46), that Abraham rejoiced to see His day (John 5:39). His works were clear, His message unwavering. What possible sign or wonder could be provided to them that would now convince these Jews. His mighty works were a clear witness of His deity and power. His message was plain and spoke to His deity and power.

Oh how this sadly is seen in many today as well. As we speak clearly Christ alone. As His mercy and grace are clearly demonstrated. Still many ask for more. Many ask for it to be perverted into something they can swallow. They ignore the plain language of the Holy Wit and create doubt. They ignore His finished works that He has done and look for more.
