It is so easy to read a devotion or pass on feel good e-mails thinking we are doing Gods will while subduing our conscious. I pray we do not merely go through the motions. That our prayers and reading are not to make us feel good but focuses all attention on Him. May by His Grace and light that we seek Him instead of the deeds of the flesh.
Extra Credit: I speak today of those walking in empty faith. For the bonus read let us consider also for the regenerated hearts Walking with God, in faith. By Donald Fortner
Jhn 12:9 Much people of the Jews therefore knew that he was there: and they came not for Jesus sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.
Jhn 12:10 But the chief priests consulted that they might put Lazarus also to death;
Jhn 12:11 Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus
- What can we draw from the priest going after Lazarus?
How dark the understanding and ignorance of the natural man. Hear, Christ Jesus the Savior was but these men came to see Lazarus the one raised from the dead. They were more interested in the works instead of the worker, more interested and amazed by curiosity than the solution, more interested in a man than the Creator. This shows us that without the grace of the Lord, even in the light of the greatest miracles it begets only empty faith. Should this surprise us? We see today, men looking to the works of others and praising men for their actions. They glorify the results with and promote the man. They scrutinize the fruit without regard for the one who planted the tree. They know casually what is good to them and try to reproduce but give no concern for a regenerated heart. This shows us that without the grace of the Lord, even in the light of the greatest gift, even the best of deeds produced by man, begets only empty faith.
