I pray we all come hungry to His word this day and humble ourselves that He will provide a feast. Let us sit and restore our souls and glory in His name that He leadeth us into righteousness. Let us all give thanks and feed at the table that He has provided. God bless these words and the hearts that read them.
Jhn 6:8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
Jhn 6:9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
Jhn 6:10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
Jhn 6:11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
- Should we take anything away from the attention to detail and structure or order that God commands?
- 5000 men, 5 loaves, what if anything can we draw from these numbers?
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever." 23rd Psalm
How wonderful and thankful we should be that God’s blessings are dispensed according to the riches of His grace, and not according to the poverty of our faith. What would have happened to the multitude if Christ had acted according to the faith of His disciples? The multitude would have surely left hungry and unfed. Oh, how great it is that God’s blessings do come despite us. Though we are lost and hungry and so often try to find our own means of nourishment be encouraged for the Lord is our shepherd and we shall not want (Mark 6:34). And be at peace for He is in control and makes us set down in the pastures green with much grass. Be renewed for Here He causes us to pause and restore our soul. Be fulfilled for He has prepared a feast before us and shall feed us as much as we would. And finally be secure for we shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
