If you look at the title in the subject line it doesn't seem like a fair comparison, but unfortunately so many people pick the wrong side. I pray we eat only of Bread of Life eternal. That He teaches us, touches us, and feeds us.
Jhn 6:48 I am that bread of life.
Jhn 6:49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
Jhn 6:50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
Jhn 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
- What is meant by not die in vs 50?
- How do we eat of this bread?
The Jews here were seeking the manna that feed their ancestors (John 6:30-31). They searched for anything that they could see, touch, taste, and feed their temporal hunger. But these things of the world have no power to ward off death. The entire generation that ate the manna in the wilderness all died. The bread they looked too, that feed them, could not ultimately save them from the death caused by their sins. This bread they craved and ate of could not be the living bread, for the true bread bestows life unending. The manna was only for the Israelites. It fell nowhere else and no one else partook of this offering. This could not be the true bread for the true bread giveth life unto all nations and tribes. And now these Jews in light of this were seeking the manna that feed their ancestors. But how many of us seek the bread of this world that we can see, touch, taste, and feed our temporal hunger, only to be hungry again. Dear reader if you are not full, are you feeding of the true bread, the bread that He has provided.
