"Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." (John 5:39)

His Record is True

I pray God uses this and illuminates exactly what is needed. I enjoy this opportunity and invite any to respond. I do not wish to continue as a Pharisee in the flesh, and so I never claim to be completely correct. I take this opportunity to meditate on His word and pray for understanding and share with others as they may be draw to share with me. May God strip away any ignorance and press in our hearts that which is truth.

Jhn 8:13 The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of thyself; thy record is not true.
Jhn 8:14 Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, yet my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
Jhn 8:15 Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.
Jhn 8:16 And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and the Father that sent me.
Jhn 8:17 It is also written in your law, that the testimony of two men is true.
Jhn 8:18 I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me.

- How does verse 14 square with John 5:31-39?
- What do these verses show of His deity?

Here the Pharisees saw a man, thought they knew this man, and viewed Him with the goggles of the flesh. Can we say as well that we are not guilty of judging a man by their outward appearance. Here they saw a likeness of sinful flesh and deemed it impossible for this man to be the Light of the World, but like so many times appearances may be deceitful. Be careful judging a man’s deeds without knowledge of a man’s heart. For the heart is the true mirror to a man’s motive and weakness. “The heart is the true mirror of the man. Its language speaks the real character. If we could hear the secret whispers of a graceless heart, the sound would be uniformly evil” (Henry Law gleanings of grace blog). Evil fills the hearts of all flesh and from a tainted source, tainted water flows. But God does not judge any man after the flesh but looks at the heart. “And yet if He judge” vs 16 or better yet ‘When’ He judges, His judgment will be true. For He will not judge according to what you have done and show on the outside but according to a grace filled heart and the truth.

(Psm 534:1) “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.”
